Krishnamacharya

Krishnamacharya is an important figure in the modern Yoga tradition. He was an Indian Indian ayurvedic teacher, scholar and healer. His name is often called the "father" of modern yoga. His influence was vast in many areas, including postural Yoga.


Neem Karaoli Baba

Neem Karoli Baba was originally Lakshman Der in Akbarpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was a Brahmin and belonged to a noble clan. At age eleven, he married and became a sadhu (hermit). He later returned to his village as a yogi. His teachings emphasized love and truth. He was very compassionate and taught others to do the same.

Indra Devi

Indra Devi is a pioneering teacher of yoga who began teaching in the 1930s. Born in Russia, Indra Devi later moved to India where she studied with Sri Krishnamacharya. The school was run by this yoga master in the Maharaja's palace. Indra Devi was the first Western woman to study at an ashram in India. Later she was one of the best-known yoga teachers around the globe.
